Nancy Bales is executive director of the Gray Family Foundation, which works to encourage greater civic engagement in Oregon through investments that promote environmental literacy. Prior to this position, she served as vice president of development at Ecotrust where she helped raise over $45 million in philanthropic support to further Ecotrust’s work to build a new economy that restores nature and invests in people. Nancy has over 20 years of professional and volunteer fundraising experience and more than 25 years of management experience in the private and nonprofit sectors, ranging from Fortune 500 companies to startups. She has served as board chair of Opal Creek Ancient Forest Center as well as on the advisory and program committees for Willamette Valley Development Officers. Nancy holds a BSBA from Creighton University. Nancy has two daughters and enjoys spending time with her family in the outdoors, particularly skiing, hiking, and snowshoeing in the forests of the Pacific Northwest. She is a dedicated bike commuter and Portland Timbers fan.
