Funder Webinar on Community and Citizen Science

Citizen science and community science (CCS) engage members of the public in scientific investigations. This fast-growing field provides opportunities for educators to involve young people in learning science while doing science, and to foster environmental stewardship and civic participation. Featuring researchers from the University of California, Davis Center for Community and Citizen Science, this webinar highlighted key findings from research on youth-focused community and citizen science and its implications for connecting people and nature. Presenters shared efforts to bridge research and practice in this emerging field, highlighting examples from the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. Presenters also shared new research on key practices that can support youth in making positive change in their lives, landscapes, and communities.
