Juan Martinez

    Juan Martinez is the vice president of strategic partnerships at the Children & Nature Network, which strives to reconnect children, their families, and communities to nature. His passion to empower individuals and youth led him to direct Sierra Club’s first environmental justice youth leadership academy in Los Angeles. Juan was named a National Geographic Explorer in 2011 and the National Science Teachers Association’s Global Explorer in 2014. He is a recipient of Congresswoman Hilda Solis’ Environmental Youth Leadership Award, the “Looking to the Future” award from the Breaking the Color Barriers conference, and a “Green for All” fellowship. Juan acts on the board of directors for The Murie Center and the Sierra Club Foundation. He dedicates his energy and free time on grassroots campaigns that vary from health care and housing discrimination to creating garden space in the city of L.A. Juan holds a bachelor's degree in History from California State University Los Angeles.
