Strengthening Communities Through Advocacy
October 4, 2021, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm PDT
Is advocacy a tool in your philanthropic toolbox? Too many foundations leave out advocacy, either because it seems too hard, not relevant, or not legal. This session will dispel these myths about philanthropic engagement in policy advocacy, and highlight why advocacy is so important for you and your grantees. We’ll start by defining what we even mean by “advocacy,” and discuss all the legal ways you can get involved (whether you’re just dipping your toe in the water or you want to jump in the deep end!). Learn what your colleagues in environmental philanthropy are doing, and go home with specific steps you can take to become more involved in policy advocacy to accomplish your mission. This funder-only session is hosted by the Blue Sky Funders Forum in partnership with Bolder Advocacy.
Join us for “Strengthening Communities Through Advocacy” on October 4, 1-5 pm ET. Registration is free but required.
Additional Office Hours: Abby Levine from Bolder Advocacy will host scheduled office hours following the session – an opportunity for you to reflect and come back with more questions or dig deeper on a topic. Funders can join a small group conversation during one of the time slots below:
October 5, 10 am – 12 pm ET
October 7, 5 pm – 7 pm ET
This session is held in conjunction with the EGA Fall Retreat. We invite you to register to join us for the Fall Retreat if your organization meets EGA’s membership criteria. If you have any questions regarding EGA Fall Retreat registration, contact Linda Smith at linda@greenmeetings.us.
